It was a triumphant night for Steve Hamilton at the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards on 7 March! The star-studded awards ceremony, which was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, was hosted by Marcus Brigstocke and attended by celebrities from across the film, television and publishing industries.
Steve Hamilton was awarded the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, which celebrates the best in contemporary thriller writing, for The Lock Artist. Hamilton, who had travelled from New York for the event, said ‘Ian Fleming’s work represents everything I’ve always loved about storytelling, whether it be books or movies. I can’t even express how honoured I am to receive an award with his name on it.’
The Lock Artist was also shortlisted for the coveted CWA Gold Dagger, alongside The End of the Wasp Season by fellow Orion author Denise Mina.
The Crime Writers’ Association Daggers have been synonymous with quality crime writing for over fifty years and are internationally recognised as a mark of excellence and achievement.
