The audiobook of Keith Richards’ acclaimed bestselling autobiography, Life, read by Johnny Depp and Joe Hurley and with an introduction and by Keith Richards, has won the US Audiobook of the Year at the 2011 Audio Publishers Association Awards (also known as the Audies).
In a ceremony that took place in New York City on 24 May, Life picked up two prizes: Audio Book of the Year and Best Biography/Memoir. The Audies are considered the highest honours of the audio-book industry.
Keith Richards and his manager Jane Rose were “thrilled” with the news, while reader Joe Hurley was said to be “ecstatic”.
The unique audio production is currently enjoying very strong sales in the UK. Pandora White, Audio Manager at Orion Audio, said: ‘We are of course absolutely delighted with the news of this award as I know a lot of hard work went into producing this audio and in the end was a tremendous achievement for Hachette Digital’.
