Ian Rankin’s Edinburgh is a personal guided tour by the Number One Sunday Times bestselling author of the city that inspires his writing. This free-to-download app is perfect for the millions of Ian Rankin fans; either to be used directly in Edinburgh or at home as a complement to Ian’s novels. Specially created videos, audio, and lots of exclusive content including stunning photographs bring this fantastic city and Ian’s books to life.

The tour is broken down into three mini tours and in total there are around 30 key locations, each relevant to Ian’s novels and characters, particularly Inspector Rebus and his exciting new character Malcolm Fox. It is also a great and easy-to-use guide to the city itself, so that you don’t need be a fan of Ian Rankin to really enjoy this app.

Many of Ian’s fans have never been to Edinburgh, so with the photographs taken exclusively for this app, they will have the opportunity to see the actual locations that Ian uses in his plots (which don’t usually feature in many guidebooks), including the police stations, murder scenes and hidden backstreets of Edinburgh, and they’ll be able to hear the author himself giving his views on Edinburgh’s ‘dark side’.

There are plenty more fascinating locations to be included in future updates for this app from both classic Ian Rankin novels and his new ones. So you’ll not only discover more about Edinburgh and its relationship to Ian’s writing but be the first to get an exclusive sneak peek of Ian’s next novel…
