With grateful thanks to the Book Geeks for breaking the ice, Gollancz are now delighted to jump into the chilly waters of Blog.
SO: what can you expect from the Gollancz Blog? Well, we want this to be the first port of call for anyone wanting to hear directly from some of the most exciting writers being published today, so expect at least two guest blogs a month from Gollancz authors. In the coming months, as well as hearing from some familiar favourites we’ll be introducing you to some new Gollancz authors, with contributions from our 2010 debuts and the writers who are leading the way on our new YA list. Look out for special pieces on major events in the SF, Fantasy and Horror calendar too, as the Gollancz Blog gives you exclusive access to new talents and household names.
This spring, Sarah Pinborough will reveal a little bit of the backstory behind being optioned for telly, while Sam Sykes will wonder about moody hooded men. In subsequent months you can expect to hear about Highgate Vampires, Vikings and Werewolves, kick-ass schoolgirls and secret catacombs, a drunken veteran of an alien war, a boy who can talk to the dead, an assassin on the run, a detective who should have run, a thief-turned-thief-taker, a thief and a butterfly, and a boy who must save a world of stories.
You’ll also find regular pieces from us, the Gollancz team, giving you sneaky peeks from behind the scenes at the whys and wherefores of publishing, or discussing particular books and authors. Whether it’s urban fantasy or space opera, swords and sorcery or eldritch (natch) horrors, dark crime or light sorcery – and all points in between – this is where you’ll find it. If you want to know what goes into creating a book cover, putting together an internet marketing campaign, getting an author through their first TV interview, how a book gets produced or just who writes the blurbs and why? – this is where to look.
The Gollancz Blog will be somewhere where you can spend a few minutes picking up some decent chunks of information or some outright entertainment. For micro-updates (does this make us sound 21st Century? Ed.) watch out for the ‘What’s Hot’ Updates on the Gollancz website page, and dive into the roiling stream of puffs, links, quotes, promotion, video links and bizarre epigrams that are Gollancz on Twitter.
And we want this to be your Blog too. If you have any comments or suggestions on what you’ve seen here or what you’d like to see, head over to the Gollancz twitter and let us know – tweet or DM we’d love to hear from you.
The Gollancz Blog – news from our worlds to yours.
