Grace Karskens

Biography

Grace Karskens lectures in Australian History and Public History at the University of New South Wales. Her ground-breaking study The Rocks: Life in Early Sydney won the 1998 Premier's Award for Local and Regional History and established the author as a key figure in the new generation of Australian historians. A regular speaker on ABC radio 702 as well as a contributor to many journals on topics ranging from convicts, museums and grave-robbers, Grace combined history and archaeology as Project Historian for the world-renowned Cumberland Gloucester Street Archaeological Project 1994-1999.
