Children’s Privacy
We want everyone who visits Orion Children’s Books websites to take part in all the activities and offers. We also want everyone to use our websites in a safe and fair way so we’ve set out a few guidelines for you to read before you get started.
If you are not 12 years old yet you don’t need to worry about these guidelines. Instead, just ask an adult you know (such as a parent or teacher) to click here and read the guidelines for you.
If you are 12 years old or over, here are a few things we’d like you to know:

Sometimes, we will ask you to give us information about yourself so you can join in website activities, receive our news and updates and enter competitions. We won’t share this information with anyone else without asking you first (and saying “no” won’t prevent you from using our website).
If you enter a competition, we need know how to get in touch with you if you win (name, address, email address). We might also ask for your age so we can tell everyone reading the website that you were the lucky winner. To be safe, we would only put up your first name, age and your nearest town.
If you want to receive all our news and updates we will need your email address.
If you send us your photos, drawings, stories, jokes – or anything else you want to share – there are a few extra rules.
Be careful with your private information: We wouldn’t tell everyone your address or email address so you shouldn’t either! Don’t put these private details in your stories or on your drawings. If you do, we may have to remove those details from your story or drawing before putting it on the website.
And when sharing photos: Did you take the photo yourself? If not, it’s a good to idea to ask the person who took it if it’s OK for you to send it to us. If the photo is of your friends and family, ask them first if it’s OK if you can send it to our website. You should always ask the permission of your parent or guardian before sending us your photos.
Your stuff: Your photos, stories and drawings will still belong to you once they are up on our website. If we want to use them in any other way, we will do the polite thing and ask you first! If you want us to remove them from the website at any time, just ask us.
